The Record Archive Folio Dialog

This is a file chooser dialog that is invoked (in `live' mode only) from the Record option in the “The File Menu”. The Record Archive Folio dialog is shown in Figure 1-5. It requires the user to enter a unique archive folio name. Once an archive folio has been entered and the Accept button activated, pmview will generate suitable pmlogger(1) configuration files that match the metrics and hosts currently displayed in the Inventor viewer, regardless of any selections. pmview will attempt to create any non-existent subdirectories in the path to the named archive folio. Generally, it is a good idea to keep each archive folio in a separate directory.

One or more pmlogger(1) processes are launched and start to collect metrics at the same update interval as indicated in the “The Time Controls” dialog. However, the pmlogger(1) frequency remains fixed for the entire recording session.

The recording process may be terminated by selecting the Stop Recording option in the “The File Menu”, and the recording may be played back using the pmafm(1) command, for example pmafm /tmp/directory/folioname replay will replay the archives named in the folio/tmp/directory/folioname. See the manual pages for pmafm(1), pmview(1) and pmlogger(1) for further details.
