Importing Objects

To import an object (see “What Are Objects?”) into the 3D viewer:

  1. Position the time indicator at the point in time where you want the object to first appear.

See “Working With the Timelines and Time Indicator” for more information.

Note: Unless you are texturing an object (see “Texturing Images or Movies Onto a 3D Model”), make sure that none of the objects in the 3D viewer are selected. Deselect objects by clicking in an empty space in the 3D viewer.

  2. Drag and drop the new object icon onto the 3D viewer.

The object appears at the time indicator.

    Alternative methods:

    • Use the File > Import... file browser to import the object.

    • Use the Edit > Paste command to paste in an object copied from another digital media tool.

Note: When you bring a movie into your 3D effect, the movie is not copied into the effect, but rather it is referenced from its current location on your system. This behavior conserves your disk space. You need to be aware, however, that if you move the movie file, it will no longer be referenced in your effect, and if you alter the movie file, the altered movie will appear in your effect.
