You need to have write permission on a file or directory (and its parent directory) in order to remove it.

To change the permissions on file or directory, select the icon in an Icon View window and choose “Change Permissions” from the Selected menu. Refer to the Change Permissions tool Help for details.

Note: The /usr/tmp and /tmp directories are unique. Anyone can view, copy from, or move files into these directories, but you must have write permission on a file in order to remove it. If you want to remove a file or directory from your /usr/tmp or /tmp, and do not have permission to, you can change the permissions and ownership of the file with the Change Permissions tool, as mentioned above.
