Transferring Files using SGImeeting

The SGImeeting file transfer tool lets you exchange files during a conference with everyone else in the call. The file transfer mechanism is based on the ITU-T T.127 standard File Transfer protocol.

How do I...

. send a file to everyone?
. receive a file sent by another person?
. cancel sending a file?
. cancel receiving a file?
. change the directory received files are saved in?

Sending Files

sendfile To send a file to everyone in the conference, press the Send File button on the toolbar, or select the Send File command on the Tools menu. Select a file from the file dialog, and click OK.

The file is then transferred to all other conference participants with T.127 file transfer capability. While the file is being sent, a window shows the progress of the transfer.

Receiving Files

Files sent to you by other conference participants are received automatically. While the file is being received, a window shows the progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the file is saved. See Changing the Received Files Directory for how to change the directory to which received files are saved. By default files are saved in the ~/.sgimeeting-rcv-files directory.

Canceling Sending Files

After starting to send files, you can cancel the transfer in one of two ways.

. To cancel the transfers of all the files you are sending, select the Cancel All Sends command on the Tools menu.
. To cancel sending a single file, select the Cancel Send button from the individual file's progress window.

Canceling Receiving Files

. To stop receiving all files, select the Cancel All Receives command on the Tools menu.
. To stop receiving a single file, select the Cancel Receive button from the file's progress window.

Changing the Received Files Directory

To change the directory to which received files are saved, select Options from the Tools menu, and enter the path of the new directory into the field labeled "Store received files in:". This directory must already exist and have write permissions.

If a file cannot be written to this directory at any time (for example if the directory is deleted, or if its permissions change so that you no longer have write access), it is written to the directory ~/.sgimeeting-rcv-files.
