About System Security

OutBox publishes Web pages that contain information about your system and its users. If you don't want others to access this information, you can disable OutBox. To do this:

  1. Open a shell window by choosing “Open Unix Shell” from the Desktop toolchest.

  2. Log in as root by typing su at the shell prompt. Type in the root password if you have one.

  3. Type chkconfig outbox off at the root prompt.

  4. Make sure you close all running applications, then choose “Restart System” from the System toolchest to restart your system.

When the system comes back up, OutBox functionality is turned off. Others can no longer access your OutBox Web pages on the Web.

To turn OutBox on, log in as root and type chkconfig outbox on, then reboot your system.
