Configuring Color Temperature

Color temperature refers to the definition of your panel's white point. The definition of the color white is not absolute, and may exist somewhere in color space from red-white to blue-white. You may adjust the white point within this red-blue range.

Note: The Silicon Graphics 1600SW Settings application automatically searches for the brightest intensity setting when color temperature is adjusted. As a result, the intensity slider will jump to full value after a color temperature change. We recommend that you first adjust the color temperature and then adjust the intensity for your monitor.

The range for defining color temperature is described in degrees Kelvin, with red at the low end and blue at the high end.

The slider which controls color temperature is dynamic, and will update your display immediately, but will not be saved to your preset configuration until you click Apply.

Note: The Silicon Graphics 1600SW Flat Panel white point adjustment is performed using backlighting only. Unlike a typical CRT monitor, no dynamic range is lost in the colors your panel is able to display.
