Appendix D. IRIX Commands

Using Command Line Options

Most of the instructions in this guide explain how to run IRIS Showcase from the desktop. This appendix lists the command line options you can use when running IRIS Showcase from an IRIX shell. Also see the man page for IRIS Showcase.

showcase

runs IRIS Showcase.

showcase -P

lets you set the page size in points. Example: showcase -P1000,500 opens IRIS Showcase with a page that is 1000 points wide and 500 points high.

showcase -S

lets you set the window size. You use xmin, ymin, xmax, and ymax to give the coordinates for the lower left and upper right corner.

showcase -s

lets you run an on-screen slide show. IRIS Showcase opens without any gizmos. The right mouse button pops up a menu with commands for starting and stopping the show.

showcase -p

prints the named IRIS Showcase file to a shell window. Only accepts one file name. To actually print the file to a printer, type:

showcase -p filename > filename.ps

Then type: lp filename.ps

showcase -b

starts IRIS Showcase in full-color mode.

showcase -v

runs IRIS Showcase in view only mode.

showcase -f

runs IRIS Showcase in the foreground.

showcase -n

starts IRIS Showcase without any window borders

You can type a filename after any of these commands to run IRIS Showcase and open the specified file. You can also list several files. The first file is opened; the others are put under the “Re-open” menu on the File menu.
